Region Code Free Blu Ray Home Theater System is a must have.....it has built-in decoding for high-res digital audio, so you can enjoy outstanding surround sound from select Sony Blu-ray players. It works by letting your player decode the high-def audio formats on the disc, like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The player then sends that decoded information to the receiver via an HDMI connection — up to eight channels of uncompressed "PCM" audio. What you'll hear is intense, high-impact sound that matches the detailed picture displayed on your HDTV. Two more HDMI inputs let you hook up other high-def sources, like a satellite TV receiver and a game console, and switch easily among them.
Sony's auto calibration technology makes it a snap to adjust the surround sound settings to your specific room and furnishings. Simply place the included microphone in your favorite listening position, and the system optimizes its own speaker settings in about 30 seconds. The receiver is equipped with an Auto Calibration function to achieve ideal surround sound settings for your room. With the included microphone placed at the listening position, Sony's DSP automatically analyzes speaker placement and sets the delay times and output levels. The microphone has a threaded insert on the bottom so it's compatible with a tripod. Speakers configuration, speaker distances and output levels can also be manually set.
This player will output PAL as PAL and NTSC as NTSC, so if you live in PAL Country (Europe, Australia, Asia, Middle-East) this SONY Region Code Free Blu Ray is all you need to enjoy all the regions of the blu ray and all the regions of DVDs 100% tested and guaranteed. Multi Zone/Multi Region Profile 2.0 Blu Ray also known as "Final Profile" or "Full Spec". These players come with a network interface, aka an Ethernet card. The Ethernet card allows you to connect your player directly to your home network. The significance of this is that with an Ethernet connection you will be able to directly download firmware updates to your player eliminating the several steps in the firmware updating process. Also, internet-based special features are available such as BD Live and Bonu View. BD-Live lets users access the internet to download data such as images and subtitles, and join in quizzes and multi-player interactive games that are linked to bonus movie content contained on Blu-ray Discs™. BD-Live also supports BONUSVIEW.

Blu-ray Disc Overview: Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a new high-definition disc format designed to take advantage of today's high quality HDTVs. The resolution is up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p) and the data transfer rate is up to 54 mbps. Blu-ray Disc discs and players offer several advantages over the standard DVD format:
Note: As Blu-Ray technology continues to evolve, new disc types with enhanced functionality will become available. In order for you to enjoy this new functionality, you will likely be required to update the firmware in your player. These firmware updates will become available for downloading from the Internet.
Disc Compatibility: The BDP-S360 is compatible with many disc types:
Copy Protection: Blu-ray Disc uses the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) to prevent unauthorized recording of copyrighted material.
Blu-ray Disc Java (BD-J): The BD-ROM format supports Java for interactive functions. BD-J offers content providers almost unlimited functionality when creating interactive BD-ROM titles.
Note: In order to enjoy these interactive features, you may need to update your player with the latest firmware.
Movie Files: The BDP-S360 can play MPEG2 movie files recorded on DVD-R/RW discs (Video and VR mode) and DVD+R/RW discs (VR mode only).
AVCHD: AVCHD (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264) is a high definition digital video camera format used to record in high definition or standard definition on DVD, using an efficient data compression coding technology. The format is designed to compress video and audio (Dolby Digital or Linear PCM) data, enabling a high definition video signal shot on a digital video camera recorder to be recorded on DVD discs, in the same way as it would be for a standard definition signal.
JPEG Playback: This unit will play JPEG still picture files (15 to 8,192 pixels) recorded onto the following discs BD-RE, BD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD-R, CD-R, and CD-RW. The unit can support a total of 500 folders and files. Still images on your disc can be viewed in a Slide-Show as well as rotated 90-degrees left or right.
MP3 Playback: The BDP-S360 supports MP3 audio files recorded with a bit-rate of 64-320kbps on BD-R/RE, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, and CD-R/RW discs. The BDP-S360 will recognize up to 500 tracks.
Precision Cinema HD Upscale: Precision Cinema HD upscale uses high bandwidth digital-to-analog conversion and processing to detect image changes at the pixel level, rather than at the level of whole scan lines. Additionally, separate algorithms are used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts
1080p HDMI Output with DVD Upscaling: Through the HDMI output, the BDP-S360 has a 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixel) output option, at either the 60 Hz video or 24 Hz film frame rates. The BDP-S360 Blu-ray disc player is capable of upscaling your standard 480i DVD disc to 1080p via HDMI.
24p True Cinema: Movies are typically recorded on film with a frame rate of 24 frames per second. When a movie is transferred to Blu-ray Disc at 24 frames per second the BDP-S360 will output that signal to the TV (if the TV will accept the 1080p/24 format) with no need for conversion.
Deep Color: The Sony Blu-ray player supports a color depth of up to 12 bits. Connecting the player and a TV that supports Deep Color via HDMI allows more accurate color reproduction than when connecting it to a TV that does not support Deep Color.
x.v.Color: The BDP-S360 supports x.v.Color, meaning it's ready for x.v.Color discs when they become available in the future.
Video Settings: The Sony BDP-S360 features the following video settings.
Picture Settings: The BDP-S360 offers the following picture adjustments.
Bonus View: The Bonus View feature provides picture-in-picture capability with select Blu-ray Disc titles. You can view addition content (such as director/actor commentary) in a small display window while the movie is playing.
BD-Live: BD-Live technology allows you to download and stream bonus content such as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, movie-based games, and more from a broadband internet and home network connections (fees may apply). The Sony Blu-ray player features an Ethernet port to connect to the internet via your home network and features rear-panel USB port for additional storage.
Note: You must have a minimum 1GB USB memory device inserted in the unit's USB port in order to download content from BD-Live.
Surround Sound Decoders: The BDP-S360 has built-in Dolby Digital and DTS surround processors. Multi-channel PCM Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD are output through the HDMI jack (when encoded on the Blu-ray Disc).
Audio Settings: The BDP-S360 allows you to adjust the following audio settings.
Parental Control: The Sony BDP-S360 offers three Parental Control settings protected by a custom user 4-digit password.
Note: You can also lock the disc tray to prevent it from being opened by mistake.
Quick Start: This feature shortens the startup time from standby mode. Quick Start Mode lets you begin operating your Sony Blu-ray Disc player approximately six seconds from the time it is powered on.
Dimmer: You can adjust the lighting of the unit's front panel display from Bright, Dark or Off.
Screen Saver: The screen saver image appears when you do not use the player for more than 15 minutes while an on-screen display, such as the home menu, is displayed on your TV screen. The screen saver image helps prevent your display devices from becoming damaged.
Auto Power Off: The player automatically turns off if you do not press any of the buttons on the player or remote for more than 30 minutes, unless you are playing BDs, DVDs, CD, photo files, or updating software.
Cooling Fan: A fan on the back of the BDP-S360 keeps the unit cool.
Multi-brand Remote: The supplied remote is pre-programmed to operate this unit and a number of functions on select Sony TVs. The remote controls the TV's power on/off, input select, volume up/down, and channel up/down.
HDMI Control ('Bravia' Theatre Sync): Sony components compatible with the HDMI Control function can be controlled via the HDMI connection. This includes convenient features like One-Touch Play and System Power-Off.
Composite Video: The composite output is always live and fixed at 480i. It can output video when playing a Blu-ray Disc.
Digital Audio Outputs: The Audio menu allows you to select the digital audio format that is passed through the digital optical and coaxial outputs. Settings allow you to transfer Dolby Digital or DTS sound tracks, or down-mix surround bitstreams to 2-channel PCM audio.
Analog Audio: There is a pair of stereo analog RCA outputs.
USB Extension Port: The BD-S360 features a rear panel USB Type-A port which allows you to enjoy additional content (such as BonusView) on certain Blue-ray Disc titles. Some BD-ROMs have bonus content and other data which can be downloaded to an inserted USB Flash Drive (sold separately).
Note: Sony recommends using the Sony USM1GH Flash Drive (158USM1GH, sold separately) and does not guarantee compatibility with all other manufacture's USB flash drives.
LAN (100) Port: You can connect the player's LAN (100) terminal of the player to your Internet source using a network cable (Ethernet cable sold separately) to update the unit's software using the network. Visit Sony.net for information about firmware updates.
